With the new year just around the corner, many are looking forward to the opportunities and possibilities that the year will bring. If the last two years have taught us anything, it is life can be highly unpredictable. Recently the air seems to be constantly buzzing with change and potential. Many traditional norms and ideologies have disappeared as society enters a new age.
Custom house building is not exempted from this change. The tastes of future homeowners have been shifting and changing; everyone has their idea of what they want their forever home to look like. Still, with the internet’s vast knowledge available to us at the touch of our fingertips, it becomes almost impossible to come up with a solid vision. To make the decision a bit easier, Infinity Homes has compiled a brief list of some of the top trends in custom home design to expect in 2022.
1.Curved Lines
Straight lines and flat designs are a thing of the past! Many future homeowners are looking into architectural and interior designs that incorporate a more organic look. Curved lines promote a more homely and cozy feeling than the elegant yet severe look of previous straight designs.
2.Mixing Vintage and New
The idea of thrifting has been gaining popularity during the last couple of years. You might have seen thrifting gain a massive following on the fashion scene, but thrifting items have become more popular as well. Many designers and decorators are starting to prefer a mix of vintage/antique items and more modern pieces. The combination gives a sense of nostalgia and history while still claiming the space as yours.
3.Nature-based design/locally and sustainable materials
After spending so much time indoors, many people are craving the feeling of being outside again. Incorporating more plants and natural elements has become a calming contrast to your home’s rigid walls and confined spaces. With various hardwood floors and a multitude of different house plants to choose from, homeowners often feel peace at being surrounded by nature. Some sources say the reason traces back to our intrinsic wiring, where our mind associates nature with food, clothing, and shelter.
Naturally, the newfound love of nature has also brought environmental awareness to most. There have been several efforts to find more sustainable materials and furniture in these to-be forever homes. Sourcing materials locally also adds a more personal and intimate connection with your furniture and materials, rather than getting items that a big corporation mass-produces. Check out our blog on sustainable materials that have become increasingly popular and find what best suits your dream home.
We hope that these have helped give you ideas as you plan out your dream home. While these are the upcoming trends, here at Infinity Homes, we like to call your custom-build home your “forever home.” So while trends are great inspirations and tools to finding what best suits you, do not feel the need to conform to these ideas.
